This Academy is aimed at students who wish to pursue a career in business or finance and is affiliated to the prestigious Career Academies UK organisation www.careeracademies.org.uk. Eligibility for the Academy is restricted to students who have chosen to pursue one of these two core subjects: BTEC in Business or A level Business Studies. Students will contribute to and benefit from the following: • A six week internship. This takes place between years 1 and 2 of the course and will be with an accredited local, national or international business. • A partner in business. Each student will build a relationship with a personal mentor someone from a local business with whom they will meet on a regular basis to discuss academic progress, their career and coursework related issues. • Local and National events organised by Career Academies UK – opportunities to meet and network with likeminded students and business professionals. • The opportunity to pursue additional academic subjects. • Lectures in class from Business Professionals covering specific subject areas and general life skills. • Site visits to local employers. Students will be able to find out additional features of the Academy programme and to register their interest for the Academy during taster days. They will then be able to discuss their individual programme at their Academy interview.
Academy of Creative and Performing Arts
The Academy is designed for students who have a particular interest in the creative and performing arts industry and are seeking to undertake a career or pursue a higher education course in this area.
The Academy allows students to bundle a package of related A Levels together. This is a dynamic and demanding course and students will combine a genuine enthusiasm and passion for the subject areas that they wish to study.
Students will commit to taking two Creative Arts related A Levels for the two full years. Students will then be have to select two further subjects which can be studied for 1 year and then at the end of year 1 they will take one of these further for the full 2 years.
Students will also be involved in an Arts related enrichment project during the first year of study. The most promising students in the area would also be encouraged to take part in an extended project within the arts adding additional value to university applications and employability.
A Level Performing Arts related package might include:
A Level Performing Arts - 2 Years,
A Level English Literature – 2 Years,
A Level Drama and Theatre Studies – 1 year with second year option,
A Level Film Studies – 1 year with second year option,
Media Package might include:
A Level Media Studies – 2 Years,
A Level Film Studies – 2 years,
A Level Art and Design – 1 year with second year option,
A Level Psychology – 1 years with second year option
Arts Package might include:
A Level Art and Design,
A level Design & Technology,
A Level – Performing Arts - 1 year with second year option,
A Level – Media Studies - 1 year with second year option,
Creative and Performing Arts Academy Students will also get access to: Dedicated Tutor group support, Masterclasses, Opportunities to work with industry professionals, Theatre and Arts related visits, Work Experience.
